I visited the high-risk clinic yesterday for my 34 week check-up. I've never received better news during a pregnancy. First of all, the baby was breech up until this appointment and I was gearing up for another external version at 37 weeks to deliver the baby without a C-section. If you don't have a clue as to what that is, I will try to explain as best I can. The doctor literally attempts to flip the babe by greasing your belly up and digging into the sides of your already tight as a drum stomach. I had this done with Mimi and I can remember distinctly feeling like I had been hit by a truck days after. Not to worry now that she did it all by herself. She is already an obedient child. I did have to wait at the clinic for an hour and a half before I was and seen. They seem to have misplaced my chart. I believe them too because they apologized over and over and in turn, gave me the full VIP treatment in the sono room with a full 4-D DVD of the babe. I have only heard about this 4-D stuff up until now because of the astronomical cost to get it done. I was almost weepy watching her in high-def, if you will. She has loads of hair and is weighing in at a perfectly normal 4.9 lbs. Scott always fears we will end up with a XENA-sized girl with the gene pool she has going for her. So perfectly normal is great news to hear. Speaking of normal, that seemed to be the best news of all. I have been able to avoid going into pre-eclamsia with this babe so far and that's something we never would have dreamed of. I have had moderate to severe pre-eclampsia with all of my pregnancies, dealing with bed rest, preemies, high blood-pressure, and extreme weight gain and swelling. I'm happy to tell all that I have only gained 50 lbs. to date with this one. Some of you may have just fallen off your chair hearing that, but that's as good as it's ever been for me considering I gained 87 lbs. with Luke. I feel light as a feather and very fortunate to be normal. We'll take that diagnosis any day.

Yay! What great news. I hope you still get to have her in three weeks, although I won't be wishing preeclampsia on you.
